A Poem

Lines
by: Jack Steiner
I went to the old yard,
Not too much had changed.
Same games, same lines on the ground,
But less clear.Blurred.
Once those lines led somewhere;
To victory, to achieving goals.
Clear, precise lines, unmuddied,By experience or life.
You knew where you had to go and In what direction.
I followed the lines.
Today they are unclear, muddied and muddled.
And where did they leave me but here,
In the old yard.

About Me

jack
melbourne, victoria, Australia
I was born and grew up in Adelaide. In 1978 I spent a year in Israel on a kibbutz and decided that socialism and kibbutz were for me. I left in 1984 with my comrades and we helped build a kibbutz in the upper Gallilee region. I served in the army, raised a child and taught high school. Since being back in Australia I have taught high school, primary school, university and in various other institutions. Recently I have completed a business course and have opened my own business.
